The Timeline of Turnstone Guitars

Journey Into Lutherie Begins

Rosie started her journey into lutherie by enrolling in a guitar-building course at a university in London. This experience ignited her deep passion for crafting acoustic guitars.

Hands-On Repair Experience

While completing her studies, Rosie gained invaluable practical experience working alongside an established guitar repairer on London's historic Denmark Street, known as the city's "Music Row." This apprenticeship provided crucial insights into instrument repair and maintenance.

Apprenticeship Begins

Furthering her expertise, Rosie secured an apprenticeship with a London-based luthier. There, she honed traditional handcrafting techniques essential for building exceptional acoustic guitars while also developing her foundation for meticulous work and a modern approach to guitar design.

Turnstone Guitar Company Founded

Taking a bold step forward, Rosie established Turnstone Guitar Company, securing a dedicated workshop space to craft bespoke acoustic guitars under her own brand.

Full-Time Commitment

As demand for her handcrafted instruments increased, Rosie turned Turnstone into a full-time operation. Her husband, Karl, joined part-time to handle the spray finishing processes.

Team Expansion

Karl's role evolved to full-time status, taking charge of administrative duties, machining operations, and finishing work as Turnstone continued its growth trajectory.

Workshop Upgrade

A significant milestone saw Turnstone relocate to a spacious, purpose-designed workshop in East Sussex, featuring state-of-the-art machinery that improved production efficiency and accuracy, ensuring the highest quality can be maintained.

10-Year Anniversary and Select Series Launch

Celebrating a decade of excellence in guitar building, Turnstone has introduced the Select Series - a carefully curated collection of small-batch acoustic guitars combining masterful craftsmanship with broader accessibility. This milestone was accompanied by a brand refresh and website update, reflecting the company's evolution from a boutique luthier to an established name in British guitar making.
